Yes, that is "tough to watch."
Edwards made a crosscourt jump pass before coming down awkwardly on the ankle; the incident occurred with about four minutes to play in the first quarter of the Timberwolves' 139-131 overtime loss to the Chicago Bulls.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Edwards was having a career year, and was named an All-Star for the first time. He's averaging 24.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists.
The Wolves can ill-afford to be without both him and Towns, as they try to hang on to a playoff spot, right now sitting at 35-36, in 8th in the Western Conference. They're just one game back of the 6th seed, but also just one game up on 11th.
