Beal has appeared in 50 games for the Wizards this season, averaging 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game with a career-best .506 field goal percentage. He had appeared in 19 consecutive matchups before tonight's game.
The Wizards are 32-40 and 12th in the Eastern Conference, but they appear content to recede from the spotlight and miss the play-in tournament. They've lost eight of their last 10 games and don't have much cause to believe they have an extended postseason run in them. If they want to pull themselves out of their current mediocrity, they'll need at least an offseason or two to reload and retool. Their trio of Beal, Kristaps Porzingis, and Kyle Kuzma appears to have plateaued.
Beal's next chance to get back on the court will be against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night.
