Dejounte Murray Responds To Critics Who Had Hawks Losing Against the Heat
The Atlanta Hawks had the first game of the play-in last night against the Miami Heat. The game would determine the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference to face the Celtics in the first round. Before the matchup, it was noted that all ESPN analysts had the Heat to win the game. However, it was the Hawks that came out on top, and guard Dejounte Murray made sure to respond to the critics.
The game was in Miami, so it led most to believe that the Heat had the advantage of playing at home. The Hawks had other plans. They led throughout the game after being down 2-0 in the first couple of minutes. After that, it was all Atlanta. At one point they led by 24 points. Murray tweeted out a response to those 17 analysts that had the Hawks losing, "Jokes on you MF's."
Murray had a consistent outing, putting up 18 points with 5 rebounds and 6 assists. His running mate in the backcourt, Trae Young, led the team in scoring with 25 points and notched 8 rebounds while dishing out 7 assists. The Hawks had 7 of their 9 players that saw some minutes score in double figures. For the Heat, Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro tried to carry the load.JOKES ON YOU MFS!!!! 😂😂 @espn https://t.co/WFuBhsVtpb

Atlanta will now focus its attention to the Celtics. The season series went to Boston 3-0, which will prove to be a tough series for the Hawks. However, with the momentum from the play-in they could sneak some wins against the Celtics in the seven-game series. They would definitely need to see the same balanced scoring from their nine-man rotation game in and game out to have a chance. Murray and Young will have to step up big as well.
For Miami, their playoff hopes are not over yet. They have a chance at grabbing the eighth seed and will play the winner of the Raptors and Bulls game tonight. Either way, they will have their hands full and need to prove themselves once again.
