Tim Hardaway Sr. Blasts Luka Doncic & Kyrie Irving

The Dallas Mavericks are coming off a big win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive, but nevertheless have had a brutal stretch run, knocking them down from 4th in the West at the time of the Kyrie Irving trade in February, to 11th. Dallas is 8-16 since the deal.

Former 5-time NBA All-Star Tim Hardaway, whose son plays for the Mavs, has come out and blasted the team for being rudderless.

“They're missing a leader out there. Luka is not a leader, Kyrie is not a leader," said the elder Hardaway. He added that losing the defense of Dorian Finney-Smith, who was sent to Brooklyn in the Irving trade, and even Spencer Dinwiddie has been a real problem for Dallas as well.

Indeed, the Mavs are 27th in the NBA since Kyrie's arrival on the scene.

"That trade wasn't for them, what isn't broken doesn't need to be fixed," he said.

But his son, Tim Hardaway Jr., begs to differ with his dad's opinion.

“I disagree with it 1000%," said Tim Jr. "It's his opinion not mine. We're two different human beings."

Hardaway Jr. added that he thinks Luka and Kyrie are, in fact, good leaders.

"I've come out numerous times and told you all how much leadership Luka has shown throughout my whole entire time here in Dallas. He shows it on and off the floor, and a lot of the situations that we've been in as a team, we wouldn't be in without him. So let's just set that straight. And Kyrie has been nothing [other] than a leader since he's been here."

The standings don't like, however, and unless the Mavs get some help by a loss or two from the Oklahoma City Thunder, they'll be on the outside looking in at the NBA Play-In and Playoffs beginning next week.
