Houston Rockets Rumors: Veteran Center Becoming Free-Agent Target

The Houston Rockets had a disastrous 2023 season. This is understandable, as they are a rebuilding club, but they are expected to be aggressive in free agency. According to Kelly Iko of The Athletic, the Rockets are planning to sign three or four veterans to help improve their group. Iko also noted that Brook Lopez is "a free agent Houston likes."

Lopez would be a big addition to the Rockets, as he would provide the team with a veteran mentor for their younger players. Furthermore, he would immediately become one of their best players if they signed him, and they have the money to make that come to fruition.

Lopez is coming off of another strong season, as he averaged 15.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 78 games played with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2022-23. The 35-year-old has proven that he is still an effective play at his age, and he will get plenty of attention in free agency because of it. We will need to wait and see if the Rockets' interest in him leads to them winning the sweepstakes from here.
