New York Knicks Make Official Call On Veteran Point Guard
The New York Knicks, by all measures had an extremely successful season in 2022-23 with the breakout year of point guard Jalen Brunson, and with rising star Immanuel Quickley coming off the bench, this is a team that didn't have much of a need for veteran, beloved guard Derrick Rose.
Now, the team have made an official decision on his future as they declined his $15.6 million team option for next year, allowing him to hit free agency once more as he looks to reinvent his career and make an impact for a potential playoff team once more.
2023 saw Rose average just 12.5 minutes per game, the lowest of his career, and in that time he averaged 5.6 PPG, and while that's a massive drop from what we've seen over his career, his experience and leadership could be crucial for a team in 2023-24.D-Rose is set to hit free agency after the Knicks declined his $15.6M team option for next season, per multiple reports
