Detroit Pistons Sign Guard
The Detroit Pistons have added to their roster, as they have signed Zavier Simpson to a one-year contract.
Simpson will provide the Pistons with more depth as they enter the 2023-24 season. The 26-year-old spent the entirety of this past season with the Orlando Magic's G League Affiliate, the Lakeland Magic, where he averaged 16.8 points to go along with 9.0 assists per contest in 32 games. He also made the NBAGL Next Up Game because of his strong season, and now he will be aiming to translate that success over to the Pistons this campaign.
Simpson has four games of NBA experience on his resume, and they all came with the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2021-22 season. When called upon, he performed well, as he averaged 11.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per contest. It will be interesting to see if he will get the chance to improve upon these career stats this upcoming campaign.
Nevertheless, this is a decent depth move for the Pistons. We will now need to wait and see if he ends up making a notable impact for Detroit from here.
