Los Angeles Clippers Forward Arrested In L.A.

Not a good look for a young player trying to make his mark in the NBA. Los Angeles Clippers forward Amir Coffey has been arrested in LA on a firearms charge.

According to TMZ, police pulled over a speeding car at 2:30am on Sunday, and Coffey, who was a passenger in the car, was found to have a loaded gun on him. The 26-year-old was arrested for misdemeanor possession of a firearm.

In four seasons with the Clippers, the 6'7" swingman has averaged 5.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game in 15 minutes per contest.

The 2021-22 season was Coffey's best, playing 22.7 minutes per game, and even starting 30 for the Clips. He averaged 9.0 points and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 37.8% from long distance.

His minutes and production took a dip last season, however, as Coffey played just 12.5 minutes on average, with just 3.4 PPG and 27.5% from three.

Coffey is in the middle of a 3-year, $11M contract in LA.

He'll be in court next month for a hearing on the firearm charge.
