NBA Insider: Cleveland Cavaliers Star Unlikely To Sign Extension
The Cleveland Cavaliers enjoyed plenty of regular season success last season when they finished with the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference, and while there were plenty of factors going into that, the acquisition of Donovan Mitchell was perhaps the biggest.
According to Tim Bontemps, it appears as though 'Spida' won't be signing an extension in Cleveland, and with just two years left on the long-term deal he signed while as a member of the Utah Jazz, Bontemps states that the team should look to get significant assets back for him after an incredible 2022-23 campaign.
In 68 games a season ago with Cleveland, Mitchell averaged a career high 28.3 points per game, along with 4.3 RPG and 4.4 APG on career high shooting percentages, and if the team can't go deep this season, they will no doubt be looking into moving him soon.“I don't think there's any chance he signs an extension there ever. And if it was up to me, I would trade Donvan Mitchell today.” 😳
