NBA Rumors: Reason For James Harden Trade Request Revealed

 

A James Harden saga has once again dominated the headlines of the NBA summer, giving him the attention that he's clearly seeking, but now, it has been revealed exactly why the former MVP has requested a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers and reigning MVP teammate Joel Embiid.

According to analyst Rachel Nichols, James Harden requested this trade for exactly that reason: he wants to be a No. 1 option once more; “He thinks he should be leading the show. The reason why he wanted out of Philadelphia in the first place is that it's the Joel Embiid show right now.”

At this stage of his career, there's no team in the NBA in which Harden could or should be a No. 1 option on, at least a contending one, but for now, it appears Harden still believes he's at that level, and is waiting for a team to take a chance on him in the No. 1 role.
