NBA Rumors: Top 3 Landing Spots for Buddy Hield

By all accounts, Buddy Hield's days in Indiana are numbered. As the Pacers look for a trade for the veteran sharpshooter, they're bound to find plenty of teams interested in his uncanny long-range accuracy (40% for his career). He's also on an expiring $18M contract.

We take a look now at three top teams who will be in the mix for dealing for the 30-year-old Hield.

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavs would love to have an elite shooter like Hield spread the floor and take the defensive pressure off of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. But according to a report on Sunday from NBA Insider Marc Stein, there is currently "no traction" on a deal between these teams.

Matching Hield's $18M salary would be difficult for Dallas, with Tim Hardaway Jr. being one exception. But the Pacers apparently have no interest in taking him back.

Los Angeles Lakers

LA was this close  to obtaining Hield in a trade with the Pacers back before the 2021-22 season before LeBron & Co. decided to go the Russell Westbrook route instead. We all know how that turned out.

But it appears that the Lakers haven't really lost interest in Hield, and could definitely use his outside shooting. Trade restrictions on re-signed players from this summer could make a deal with the Lakers difficult for the time being, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that they re-visit this.

Toronto Raptors

Now here's a team that desperately needs an elite long-range shooter like Hield. The Raptors finished 3rd-to-last in the NBA last season in threes made, and tied for 5th-worst in three-point percentage. Would Gary Trent Jr. get a deal done with Indiana?
