NBA Rumors: 3 Possible Trade Destinations For Karl-Anthony Towns

For the Minnesota Timberwolves, Ant-Man is now "The Man."

The trade rumors swirling around Karl-Anthony Towns, however, never seem to go away. Clearly one of the top offensive big men in the NBA, he's just never been able to lead the T-Wolves to any type of serious contention.

Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report has written that "rival executives think Karl-Anthony Towns will be long gone ahead of the 2024-25 campaign."

Time now for a look at three potential landing spots for KAT in a trade, whenever that might take place.

San Antonio Spurs

A proposed deal in Bleacher Report this fall suggested that an all-in move by the Spurs to acquire Towns to pair with Victor Wembanyama "would introduce the Twin Towers 2.0 version similar to the elite frontcourt duo of Tim Duncan and David Robinson" that led the Spurs to multiple NBA titles.

In one proposed offer, the Timberwolves would receive Spurs star Keldon Johnson, Devonte' Graham, a 2024 first-round pick (top-six-protected, via TOR) and a 2025 first-round pick (via ATL).

New York Knicks

Always looking for a superstar, the Knicks have been linked to a potential Towns trade for some time. They could certainly use a star scorer in the middle like Towns who can also spread the floor. He's fired threes at a 39% clip over his career, while averaging 23 points and 11.2 rebounds.

The Knicks would likely have to part with the likes of R.J. Barrett and Mitchell Robinson in such a deal, along with draft capital.

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavs have one of the best backcourts in the league, with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, but their center spot has needed a serious upgrade for years now. Somehow acquiring KAT would vault the Mavs into serious contention. Whether they actually have the assets to pull it off remains seriously in question, however.
