Murray suffered a right hamstring strain on Saturday night, and also missed some time near the end of camp with a hamstring problem. The Nuggets will take no chances, and Murray will be out another 3-to-4 weeks to make sure it's healed properly. He missed the entire 2021-22 season with a torn ACL.
"This will be something that will be longer than we would like," head coach Michael Malone said this week. "You have to have the big picture in mind and make sure we're putting him in position to get healthy before he comes back."
It's a safe bet to say that without Murray, the Nuggets don't win the championship last season, despite the all-world play of two-time MVP Nikola Jokic. Murray averaged 26 points, 7.1 assists and 40% on threes during the playoff run.
Through six games this season, he was at 16.3 points, 7.4 assists and 43.8% from long range.
