NBA Rumors: DeMar DeRozan Has 2 Preferred Trade Destinations

When the Chicago Bulls pull the trigger and blow it all up, DeMar DeRozan knows where he wants to wind up. According to NBA Insider Sam Amick of The Athletic, DeRozan's preferred trade destinations are the Miami Heat or the New York Knicks.

“When it comes to possible destinations, the Heat and Knicks are known to be preferable to DeRozan if he winds up getting moved," writes Amick.

Both teams make sense, as each have rosters that are one elite scorer away from being a true contender in the Eastern Conference. The 6-time All-Star with a 21 PPG career average fits that profile perfectly for both the Heat and/or the Knicks.

In Miami, depending on trade assets going the other way, he could also wind up reunited with his old Raptors buddy Kyle Lowry if that were to happen.

DeRozan is playing this season on an expiring contract, and at age 34, he'll be looking for one more big payday if he reaches unrestricted free agency next summer. But, being preferred destinations, both the Heat and the Knicks have the wherewithal to extend him.
