NBA Rumors: Shocking Team Linked To Zach LaVine Trade

No one is quite sure what the market is for Zach LaVine these days — some say slim, at least amongst contenders — but the latest team linked to the Chicago Bulls star is a bit of a shocker: The Detroit Pistons.

ESPN's Bobby Marks dropped that nugget, reasoning that the struggling Pistons, now 2-18, need to do something to stir up some excitement around the moribund franchise.

"I would not be surprised if Detroit dipped their toe into the Zach LaVine [market]," Marks said on SiriusXM NBA Radio"… and 'see if we can get a guy who’s a former All-Star who we couldn’t get in free agency and it doesn’t cost us much'… that they go out and do something like that. That would be kind of a team I’d just keep an eye on."

Marks proposes that the Pistons could offer a bunch of expiring contracts and maybe one of their younger talents, to try to get themselves a star player like LaVine.

Would the two-time All-Star be happy going to Detroit? He doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract, which still has four years (including this one) to run, at an average of close to $45M a season. He's currently out of the lineup with a sore foot, but when healthy and on his game, LaVine averaged 25+ points over the last four seasons, while shooting it at close to 40% from long distance.
