Knicks Bring In Familar Face with Free Agent Signing

The New York Knicks have brought back a familiar face to fill a roster void, re-signing a player who was with them during training camp and has put up some huge numbers at their Westchester Knicks G League affiliate. Duane Washington Jr. has been signed to a two-way contract.

Washington averaged 27.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists in the G League. He exploded on November 12, when he poured in 33 points on 70.5% shooting, 10 assists, and five rebounds in a home win against the Maine Celtics.

Julius Randle was an outspoken proponent of the 6’2” point guard during training camp. "Duane, his leadership is huge. He comes in and works his butt off everyday. Talks, he’s vocal, he’s coachable. Knows how to run a team. So he’s been amazing."

The Knicks need backup PG help after trading away Immanuel Quickley to the Toronto Raptors in the OG Anunoby trade.

Washington was waived by the Phoenix Suns last season, and went undrafted out of Ohio State in 2021. In 79 career NBA games, he’s averaged nine points and two assists in about 17 minutes per night.
