Lakers Rumors: LA Offer For Dejounte Murray Revealed

Some big-time names around the league have been on the move, and the Los Angeles Lakers are anxious to get into the mix, with the trade deadline less than three weeks away. A report has emerged revealing the package the Lakers offered to the Atlanta Hawks for prized trade target Dejounte Murray.

According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, the Lakers offered point guard D’Angelo Russell, the Lakers' first-round pick from 2023, Jalen Hood-Schifino, plus a 2029 first-round pick and other draft compensation.

Buha reports that talks have since stalled since that offer was put on the table, but they're expected to pick back up again closer to the deadline, though they'll be competing with several other teams.

Russell earns $17.3 million this season (and has a $18.7 million player option for 2024-25), while Murray is at $17.7 million, so the salaries match for a trade.

The Hawks, like any team the Lakers talks trade with, will likely be coming back with an ask of Austin Reaves, but the Purple & Gold have so far resisted making him available. We'll see if anything changes as time runs out before the deadline.

Other players the Lakers have interest in include DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso from the Chicago Bulls, Jerami Grant (Portland), Terry Rozier (Charlotte) and Bruce Brown, now of the Toronto Raptors.
