Dejounte Murray To Golden State Warriors in Blockbuster Trade Proposal
The Atlanta Hawks are going to break up their Trae Youg-Dejounte Murray backcourt this summer. This much is a pretty well-accepted fact. But which one is more likely to get dealt, and to where, remains the question.
On the other side of the country, the Golden State Warriors are almost certainly to lose Klay Thompson in free agency after the long-time guard's recent move indicates. They'll be looking for a new backcourt mate for Steph Curry.
Put those two eventualities together, and at least one NBA analyst has come up with a blockbuster trade proposal that could solve both problems. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report says it would look like this:
Golden State Warriors Receive:
- Dejounte Murray
- Bogdan Bogdanovic
Atlanta Hawks Receive:
- Jonathan Kuminga
- Andrew Wiggins
- Kevon Looney
- 2026 First-Rounder
The Warriors receive a guard like Steph hasn't had before, one that can really take a lot of the taxing playmaking duties off his plate, which could prolong Curry's minutes per game, and overall career. The Dubs also receive another shooter from the outside in Bogdanovic, and a scorer that can take on some of what they'd be giving up in this trade.
The Hawks get a rising star in Kuminga, whose usage and production went way up in his third season, as he finished at 16 points per game, up significantly from the previous year. They also get a player in Wiggins who, if he can regain the form he showed previously in his career, can be an impactful two-way player on the perimeter (though an expensive one, at three more years to run, at an average of $28M per season).
Atlanta also gets another two nice pieces in Looney and a 2026 first-round pick.
Who says no?
