Joel Embiid Drops Big Paul George-to-Sixers Hint On National TV

We've all heard the rumors that the Philadelphia 76ers are the prime suitor for impending free agent Paul George if the Los Angeles Clippers can't find a way to sign him to an extension within the next two weeks.

Now, Sixers superstar Joel Embiid has essentially publically recruited him, and dropped a major hint that George just may be heading to Philly by his comment on the ESPN Pre-Game Panel before Game 4 of the NBA Finals Friday night — with George sitting one person over on that same panel:

“Hopefully this offseason we find a way to get better and add some pieces,” Embiid said while smiling and looking over at George.

None of the others assembled on the panel followed up, as tampering is still supposedly against the NBA rules.

The Sixers have a boatload of cap space to throw at a big free agent addition this summer, and PG would be the perfect fit at forward, to join Philly's two current superstars, Embiid at center and Tyrese Maxey at point guard.

Philly won't be the only team with a ton of cap room to heavily recruit George, but will undoubtedly be the one that's closest for him to help push over the top to championship contender level.

The 34-year-old George has spent the last five seasons with the Clippers, though 2023-24 was his first fully healthy one. He averaged 22.6, assists 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting over 41% from three-point land. He is a nine-time All-Star.
