Karl-Anthony Towns Lands In New Orleans In Proposed Blockbuster

The rumors have persisted for the past couple of seasons that the Minnesota Timberwolves could be ready to move on from Karl-Anthony Towns. It hasn't happened, and the team made it all the way to the Conference Finals with Towns in tow along with Rudy Gobert and Anthony Edwards.

But the talk isn't dying down, despite the four years and $221.1 million remaining on his contract. So with that, we present a blockbuster deal proposed by Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report that would send Towns to the New Orleans Pelicans for another much-talked-about trade target.

New Orleans Pelicans Receive:

  • Karl-Anthony Towns

Minnesota Timberwolves Receive:

  • Brandon Ingram
  • Larry Nance Jr.
  • 2027 first-round pick (via MIL)

With Towns' ability to spread the floor as a big man from the outside (40% lifetime from beyond the arc), it would open up the inside even more for Zion Williamson to dominate in the paint. And when Towns goes down low, good luck to opposing defenses guarding both him and Zion.

For the T-Wolves, Ingram wouldn't have to worry too much about defense with Ant, Jaden McDaniels and Gobert around, leaving him to create offense which is what he does best, and what Minnesota needs more of.

The Pelicans seem intent on trading Ingram, and avoiding having to give him a massive max extension this offseason. Yes, this trade leaves them with $221M of KAT, but they might see that as a better fit.
