Top 3 Options Named For Paul George In The Coming Days

NBA Free Agency is set for Sunday night at 6pm, when teams can "officially" start negotiating with free agents (wink, wink — we know they've already started). But the domino effect for pretty much all the action might come down to these three choices for Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George:

George has a decision to make on his $48 million player option for next season. If he picks it up by Sunday, then he's likely doing so in order to be traded—likely to the Golden State Warriors. The Dubs are a newer entrant to the derby, but an enticing one. Klay Thompson will be exiting in free agency, leaving a job opening in Golden State as Steph Curry's running mate and second scoring option.

PG's other options are to decline his player option and become a free agent. In that case he would be down, likely, to two teams to decide between in free agency: The Clippers or the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Sixers have been known to be in pursuit of George ever since their season ended in May. They've got a ton of cap space to work with and a big opening at forward, now that Tobias Harris will be out the door in free agency.

George averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists this past season with the Clippers, but the relationship became strained after his teammate for the last five years, Kawhi Leonard was given a three-year extension by the team back in January—but none was forthcoming for George.

It will be an intriguing 24 hours upcoming.
