Wild Trade Proposal Sends Anthony Davis to OKC Thunder

Now that the Oklahoma City Thunder have made some noise with the impressive trade to land perimeter defensive stalwart Alex Caruso, some pundits are figuring they might as well go for broke.

FOX Sports' Colin Cowherd clearly doesn't believe that the current edition of the Los Angeles Lakers, now under the guidance of JJ Redick, are ready to compete for a championship. So he's proposed this wild blockbuster trade that would land Anthony Davis in Oklahoma City, and pretty much lock in the Thunder as the pre-season favorites in the West, and maybe the entire NBA:

Cowherd has AD going to OKC in exchange a major rebuild of the Lakers' roster, including:
  • Jalen Williams
  • Cason Wallace
  • 4 First-Round Picks

The controversial FOX host says he "wouldn't be surprised" if Davis wanted out after the hiring of Redick, and going to the Thunder, he would immediately be with a true championship-contending team. He adds that adding AD would give the Thunder "the girth" they need to go toe-to-toe with other top teams like the Denver Nuggets (Nikola Jokic), Minnesota Timberwolves (Karl-Anthony Towns, Rudy Gobert) and Boston Celtics (Kristaps Porzingis).

Cowherd adds that this would make the Thunder a favorite for the title.

As for the Lakers, they start their rebuild by bringing in top-notch young shooters and wing defenders, which they desperately need, plus a major haul of first-round picks, which they also have a serious lack of.

But this trade doesn't work money-wise, and a third team would be needed, probably for the Lakers to take on a bad contract from somewhere.
