Brooklyn Nets & Cleveland Cavaliers Talking 3-and-D Trade

We already know that the Brooklyn Nets are tearing it all down. With Mikal Bridges dealt for a big return, the next notable names on the chopping block are power forward Cameron Johnson and wing Dorian Finney-Smith.

Smith has a very interested suitor in the Cleveland Cavaliers, per reports, and they are said to be talking turkey with the Nets about a deal that would send restricted free agent Isaac Okoro to Brooklyn in return, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Nets forward Dorian Finney-Smith has drawn trade interest from Cleveland and has come up in discussions for Okoro, sources said. Cleveland is also intrigued by Cam Johnson, according to reports.

It would have to be a sign-and-trade to land Okoro in Brooklyn, and the Nets are among the teams considered a possibility, says Scotto, though he doesn't believe anything is imminent.

Okoro, 23, is the top free agent remaining this summer (though restricted) and has established himself as a strong 3-and-D option. He shot 39% from deep last season while averaging 9.4 points.

Finney-Smith has long been a strong wing defender and last year averaged 8.5 points and 4.7 rebounds. He shot just a tick under 35% from three-point range.

If no trade is made, and Okoro chooses to sign a one-year qualifying offer with Cleveland, he becomes an unresticted free agent and can leave for nothing in the summer of 2025. Therefore, we expect a sign-and-trade — or a multi-year extension — in the very near future.
