Celtics Hand Out Big Contract Extension

He carved out a critical role for himself in the Boston Celtics rotation, en route to help them to the NBA Championship this season. Now, three-point shooter supreme Sam Hauser has won himself a four-year extension worth $45 million.

It's quite the success story for the 26-year-old, who was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2021 out of Virginia. All he's done in three seasons with Boston is establish himself as one of the top sharpshooters from long range in the NBA, averaging 42.2% from three over those three years.

This past regular season, Hauser averaged nine points on 42.4% shooting from distance in 22 minutes per game. He was a solid contributor in the playoffs as well, firing at 38% from beyond the arc. He also became only the third player in Celtics history to make 10 three-pointers in a game (along with Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart).

With the signing, the Celtics now have eight rotation players from their championship team under contract through at least 2025-26.

In addition to the Hauser money, Boston also extended star Jayson Tatum this month to a five-year, $314 million supermax extension, the largest deal in NBA history, as well as re-signing Derrick White to a four-year, $126 million extension.
