Darius Garland Lands With Orlando Magic In Huge Trade Proposal
Donovan Mitchell says he doesn't want the Cleveland Cavaliers to trade his teammate Darius Garland. But we know that the latter's agent, Rich Paul, is rumored to want to boost his client's earning power by getting him into a backcourt of his own somewhere now that Spida is locked-in in Cleveland.
There are plenty of teams who would love to have the former All-Star point guard Garland, and we saw what he could do as the main man before Mitchell's arrival in The Land.
We also know that the Orlando Magic have been searching for a star lead guard to take the reigns in their backcourt, to help facilitate the offense for star forwards Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.
With that in mind, Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report has proposed a blockbuster deal that would send Garland to the Orlando Magic, solving both teams' issues.
Orlando Receives:
- Darius Garland
Cleveland Receives:
- G Jalen Suggs
- G Cole Anthony
- C Wendell Carter Jr.
This four-player eye-popping deal would give the Magic the playmaking star they need. With Suggs having been slated to be the starting point guard in the team's current configuration, his 2.7 assists per game, as he averaged this past year, just doesn't cut it. Enter Garland in this proposed trade, who's averaged 6.7 assists per game throughout his career, and 8.6 in his All-Star season of 2021-22. In addition, they have Jonathan Isaac to slot into the vacated starting center's role.
The Cavaliers receive yet another big man for their frontcourt in Carter Jr.; teams would have all sorts of headaches facing Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley and Carter Jr. As for Suggs, his defense would provide the perfect complement to Mitchell in the Cavs backcourt.
Still lots of time before training camp for deals to get done.
