NBA Rumors: Newest Wizard Valanciunas Could Be Flipped To Another Team

Free agent Jonas Valanciunas agreed earlier this month to a three-year deal with the Washington Wizards for $30.2 million. But according to NBA insider Brian Windhorst of ESPN, D.C. might not be the JV's final destination this coming season.

Windhorst has been known in the past to have some major scoops before others in NBA circles, and he said on his Hoops Collective podcast, "Do we think Jonas Valanciunas will be on offer from the Wizards midway through the season? I wouldn't rule out Jonas Valanciunas eventually ending up on the Lakers this year. That's all I'm going to say."

He was particularly referring to new Lakers head coach JJ Redick remarking that the team "still needs a big bruising center... That's the reason why they went after Valanciunas" in free agency earlier this month.

The Lakers would certainly prefer Anthony Davis to play more power forward, next to "a bruising center", rather than play the 'five' so much.

JV is not eligible to be traded until December 15th. So if Windhorst truly is on to something, the Lakers will still have to make do at center for two months at least.

The big Lithuanian averaged 12.2 points and 8.8 rebounds last season with the Pelicans in 82 games. Now, wouldn't the Lakers love to have a center who played every single night?
