NBA Trade Rumors: 7 Teams in Pursuit of Brooklyn Nets' Cam Johnson

The Brooklyn Nets are tearing it all down to the studs. Star scorer Mikal Bridges was dealt for a major haul, and forward Cam Johnson could be next.

There are apparently a boatload of teams lining up to try to acquire the former lottery pick (11th overall selection, 2019 NBA Draft).

Brian Lewis of the New York Post notes six teams showing interest in the 28-year-old.

While the [Sacramento] Kings, [Orlando] Magic and [Los Angeles] Lakers are interested, one recent report claimed the [San Antonio] Spurs, [Toronto] Raptors or [Golden State] Warriors could be a ‘dark horse.’

In addition to all of those clubs, recent reports have also registered a 7th team, the Cleveland Cavaliers as looking into the Nets forward as well.

The Lakers might be more motivated than most teams, as they need some sort of infusion to their roster with impact (sorry, Bronny), and they are one of only three teams that haven't signed any free agents yet this summer. A trade for a strong player like this could help soothe the disgruntled Lakers faithful.

The Kings and Magic already have pretty substantial starting power forwards in Keegan Murray and Paolo Banchero, respectively, so their interest is a bit puzzling.

Johnson just completed his first full season with the Nets, averaging 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 39.1% from three-point land. Those numbers are either in line with, or just above his career marks.

The 6'8" power forward came to Brooklyn along with Mikal Bridges in the four-team blockbuster that sent Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns in early 2023.
