NBA Trade Rumors: Frontrunner for Russell Westbrook Trade Named

His days with the Los Angeles Clippers are all but done, despite the fact that he picked up his $4 million option for the coming season. But Russell Westbrook does have a leading suitor on the trade market in the Denver Nuggets.

NBA Insider Marc Stein reports:

The most tangible known interest for Russell Westbrook continues to come from Denver, league sources say, with the Clippers openly exploring their trade options.

It’s understandable that the Nuggets are interested in Westbrook, as three-time MVP Nikola Jokić recently went to the team to campaign for them to acquire the 9-time All-star point guard.

"Jokic has been pushing behind the scenes to get Westbrook to Denver. It’s not just that Westbrook wants to come to Denver, I’m told that Jokic wants him here," said Nuggets insider Harrison Wind.

Westbrook had career lows last season with the Clippers, playing only 22.5 minutes per game while averaging 11.1 points, five rebounds and 4.5 assists.
