NBA Trade Rumors: Jerami Grant Heads to Lakers in Trade Proposal

The Los Angeles Lakers have yet to make a significant offseason move (no, the fully expected re-signing of LeBron James doesn't count). But the team is desperate to add something to juice up the roster going into next season.

Another scorer to take some pressure off of LeBron and Anthony Davis would be nice, among other things they're working on.

To that end, Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report has proposed a trade that would land the Lakers one of their desired targets this summer, the Portland Trail Blazers' Jerami Grant. The 30-year-old forward averaged 21 points last season along with 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting 40.2% from three-point range. He is, however, in the middle of a massive 5-year, $160 million contract (four years to run).

Here's a look at what this proposed trade would look like:

LA Lakers Receive:
  • Jerami Grant
Portland Trail Blazers Receive:
  • Rui Hachimura
  • Gabe Vincent
  • 2029 first-round pick (top-three-protected)
  • 2030 second-round pick
The Lakers get the scorer — and the Rich Paul client — that they want. LeBron & AD's Klutch agency likes to get their clients to team up with those two in LA whenever they can.

Getting out from under that huge Grant contract would be a great move for the Blazers, who are at the very beginning of a rebuild after trading Damian Lillard shortly after Grant signed that contract last summer. In addition, they get two decent pieces in Hachimura and Vincent, who could even be flipped for more draft picks.

The teams have had trade talks on this front, but Portland's demand of two Lakers first-round picks ('29 and '31) has put a damper on any deal to this point. This proposed offer makes a bit of a compromise on the draft pick aspect to try to get the transaction done.
