NBA Trade Rumors: Warriors Get Brandon Ingram In Proposed Deal

So what is the latest on Brandon Ingram? The New Orleans Pelicans star forward wants a max extension this summer as he gets set to head into the final year of his contract, but the Pels don't seem inclined to give it to him.

Another team needs to enter the fray, one that feels it's one big star piece away from contending for a championship. That team could be the Golden State Warriors. They lost Klay Thompson this offseason. They came close to swinging a trade that would have landed them another star in Paul George, but fell short. Ingram would be an adequate consolation prize.

Sure, they wouldn't be crazy about taking on the monetary commitment it would take to bring in Ingram, but what if they were able to unload the unwieldy salary of Andrew Wiggins?

With that prospect in mind, we present a blockbuster three-team deal proposed by Evan Massey of Hoop Analysis Net:

Golden State Warriors Receive:

  • Brandon Ingram
New Orleans Pelicans Receive:
  • Andrew Wiggins
  • Kevon Looney
  • Trayce Jackson-Davis

The Warriors receive another star player—and at only 27 brings down the team's average age considerably—to help them make another title run while Steph Curry's window is still open. Ingram averaged 20.8 points to go along with 5.7 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game, and with that kind of playmaking ability, is a Warriors-type player.

The Pelicans, who have a big void in the middle, pick up two big men. The rookie Jackson-Davis had a nice debut season in Golden State, averaging 8 points and 5 rebounds in just 16 minutes a game. Looney is a veteran who's got a ring. And in Wiggins, they get a reasonable facsimile at forward for Ingram, though he is coming off a down season. Wiggins only has two years left on his deal at an average of $27 million, much less than the max deal that Ingram wanted.

Who says no?
