Report: Brandon Ingram Finished in New Orleans; 3 Top Landing Spots

Rumblings began as soon as the NBA season came to a close, and now, the possibility of Brandon Ingram moving on from the New Orleans Pelicans has ramped up, as trade talks have "intensified."

“Attempts in New Orleans to trade Brandon Ingram have intensified in recent days", league sources tell NBA insider Marc Stein. "Sources tell The Stein Line that on Ingram's side, with the reality that the contract extension terms his camp had hoped for are not forthcoming from the Pelicans, there has likewise been exploration of trade options.”

Ingram was looking for a max extension that he became eligible for this offseason, but the Pels aren't in the mood to give it to him, feeling their team has gone as far as it can in its current iteration.

The top 3 landing spots for Ingram are seen as:

  • Sacramento Kings
  • Cleveland Cavaliers
  • Miami Heat
Of those three teams, the Kings are apparently the frontrunner.
If Sacramento falls short, their other top targets to add a star forward are Lauri Markkanen and Kyle Kuzma.

Both the Cavaliers and Heat are also looking for a star forward to add to their push to make themselves true contenders in the East.

Ingram had a tremendous run in New Orleans, averaging 23 points per game in his five seasons there.
