Bruno Caboclo's Warriors Dream Is Over, Signs Overseas

Former NBA first-round draft bust Bruno Caboclo had himself a tryout with the Golden State Warriors this week in an attempt to potentially return to the NBA after a nearly four-year absence, but it wasn't to be. He's now signed a deal for this season with Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel.

The Brazilian big man had spent the previous season with Partizan, where he averaged 9.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in 27 EuroLeague contests, while shooting 50% from three on less than two attempts per game.

He's also played in Brazil, France and Germany, as well as the G League, since his last appearance in the NBA with the Houston Rockets in early 2021.

The 6'9" big man spent bit parts of seven seasons in the NBA, totaling 105 games while averaging 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per contest.

He earned the tryout with the Warriors after his performance for Brazil at the recent Paris Olympics, where he posted 17.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 60.5% on field goals and 54.5% from three-point range in four Olympic contests. His Warrior workout came with the Tel Aviv offer already on the table, and that is ultimately where Caboclo has signed. He'll join former NBAer Patrick Beverley on the Israeli squad.

He was drafted with the 20th pick overall by the Toronto Raptors in the 2014 NBA Draft, much to the shock of pretty much everyone in the basketball world. The so-called "Kevin Durant of Brazil" managed to play just 25 games for the Raptors over three seasons, and averaged 1.1 point per game. That's 26.2 points less per game than the real KD has averaged.
