2x Slam Dunk Champ Mac McClung Gets Another NBA Shot with Eastern Contender
Fans have been left breathless by the high-flying antics of 6'2" Mac McClung over the years. He's won two NBA Slam Dunk titles, and was the G League MVP in 2023-24. But he has played a grand total of just four NBA games over his three-year pro career.
Now, he's getting a partially guaranteed contract, and will get another crack at an NBA job, again with the Orlando Magic.
Guard Mac McClung – the back-to-back NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion and 2024 G League MVP – has agreed on a partially guaranteed deal with the Orlando Magic, sources tell @TheAthletic. This will be the second year in a row McClung will compete for a roster spot at training camp with the Magic. Last year, he didn't make the team and was sent to their G League affiliate in Osceola, where he dominated, averaging 25.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.6 assists in 27 games to take home MVP honors.
In the NBA, McClung has appeared in one game for the Chicago Bulls, one game for the LA Lakers, and a pretty solid two games for the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2022-23 season.
The Magic will now go into camp with 17 players under contract, but all 15 regular roster spots are accounted for, so McClung is likely battling for a two-way deal.
