A Most Improved Player Award Wins Former Warriors Guard New NBA Deal

After a 41-game run with the Golden State Warriors over the past two seasons, and a superlative season in the G League, Lester Quinones has signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-way contract.

Quinones averaged 4.2 points in 10.1 minutes per contest in his 41 games for the Warriors, but really showed out in the G League last season. The Sixers took notice when the 6'5" guard put up one of his best NBA games of the year against them last February, with 13 points, on 4 of 7 from three-point range, along with four assists.

With the Santa Cruz Warriors of the G League, he won the Most Improved Player Award, while averaging 21.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists. Quinones also hit on 35.4% of his long-range shots, at high volume, launching almost nine three-point attempts per game.

The highlight of his season—and pretty much anybody's season in the G League—came in a March game, when he scored 21 straight points in the fourth quarter on the way to a 46-point explosion, along with 12 boards.

He'll now try to win himself a spot on the Sixers bench once preseason games get underway.
