Brooklyn Nets Have 4 Players on Trade Block

The full tear-down has begun in Brooklyn, after the earlier summer trade of Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks. According to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, the next four Nets to be traded—if they get their asking price—are as follows:

  • Cam Johnson
  • Dorian Finney-Smith
  • Dennis Schroder
  • Bojan Bogdanovic

Johnson is the most in-demand, though GM Sean Marks has set a "sky high" asking price, and until it gets met, Johnson isn't going anywhere.

"NBA personnel who spoke with The Post said the Nets have had consistently high trade demands for Johnson, which would explain his continued presence on the roster," wrote Lewis. "Asked earlier this offseason how he fits into the new plans of Marks, Johnson answered, "Still trying to figure it out. Still trying to figure it out."

The 6'8" 'stretch-4' averaged 13.6 points last season, but the previous year, averaged 15.5 points. He added 4.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists for Brooklyn last season, while shooting 39.1% from three-point range, right at his career mark. He still has three years to go on his contract, averaging $23.6 million per season.

Finney-Smith is a consolation prize for a 3-and-D forward, for teams who can't afford Johnson. He plays stout defense on the perimeter and has averaged 8.3 points and 4.6 rebounds for his career in eight seasons, pretty much right on his numbers from this past year. He has one year plus a player option remaining, both at $15 million per.

Bogdanovic only arrived in Brooklyn this summer, as part of the Bridges trade. The 35-year-old can still fill it up from long range. He is going into the last year of his deal, at $19 million, and will also be a popular trade target.

Schroder is a point guard who can be useful in a bench role, though he perceives his value to be higher than it actually is. He's earning $13 million in the final year of his pact, and could certainly fill a nice role for a contender in need.
