Marquee Team Has Eyes on Giannis Antetokounmpo "If Wheels Fall Off" in Milwaukee

Giannis Antetokounmpo is still under contract with the Milwaukee Bucks for four more seasons. But after their revamp of the roster last season with Damian Lillard couldn't get them out of the first round of the playoffs (for the second year in a row), is it possible that Giannis's patience will start to wear thin? Will he ask out if things go south again this season?

If that ever did come to pass, insider Sam Amick reports in The Athletic that the Golden State Warriors are a team that has the Greek Freak on their radar:

One that I think is just always gonna be monitored around the NBA is if the wheels fall off the Bucks. We know that (Warriors owner) Joe Lacob has had dreams of Giannis coming the Warriors’ way for a very long time. Again, unlikely, but Khris Middleton is gonna be a free agent next summer…I think Giannis is worth monitoring.

The Warriors are still looking to keep Steph Curry's championship window open before he starts to decline from his lofty perch. Adding Giannis would be a stunning and thrilling development for Warriors fans.

As for the Bucks, they've disappointed ever since their championship run in 2021, and it's quite possible that Giannis could start to get impatient. With the team's third star, Khris Middleton, holding a player option after this season with a chance to head to free agency, Antetokounmpo will be watching that situation closely, and so will the entire NBA... in particular, per this report, the Warriors.

The Bucks' two-time MVP averaged over 30 points per game for the second year in a row last season, along with his usual 11.5 rebounds and a career-high 6.5 assists.
