Report: Warriors ‘Want to Do Something Big’

The Golden State Warriors are looking to make one last big swing at a championship while Steph Curry is still at, or close to, the peak of his powers. According to Steve Bulpett of Heavy.com, front offices around the NBA are "keeping an eye on Golden State", though he admits it's as much out of "curiosity" as anything else.

Do the Dubs have a big splashy move left in them? One league source told Bulpett they're trying...

From the talks they’ve had — or tried to have — it sounds like they want to do something big. But they also don’t want to break things up too much. Moving Klay (Thompson) was big for them, but it wasn’t as big a trade as they probably wanted it to be. They want to add around Steph (Curry) and Draymond (Green), but they’re finding that’s hard to do.

They’ve been trying to do stuff for quite a while — like last year at the trade deadline they were trying to get something going. I mean, they keep acting like they’re trying to make some major changes, but I just don’t know if they will.

The changes thus far this offseason won't move the needle too much. They complete a sign-and-trade with the Dallas Mavericks, moving out longtime Splash Brother Klay Thompson in a massive 6-team blockbuster than landed them Buddy Hield and Kyle Anderson. They also let Chris Paul go.

But Curry is still playing at an All-Star level, and they still have Draymond Green and three other key pieces of their last title in 2022. But as one rival coach put it, reports Bulpett, “They’re like one of those rock and roll bands that’s still touring. They’ve still got their lead singer, and he can still crank it out at a high level. But it’s not the same band as before — and they haven’t had a hit record in a few years.

The Warriors will keep trying to make that big splash and get some Satisfaction
