Two of NBA's Worst Contracts Would Change Hands in Massive 4-Team Proposed Blockbuster

There are some contracts in the NBA that just seem unmovable. They are so onerous that no team will consider trading for them. A recently proposed trade would see not one, but two of the worst contracts in the league change hands in what would be a four-team blockbuster.

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report has gone into the lab and cooked up this wild experiment of a trade that would seemingly help four teams:

    Los Angeles Clippers Receive:

  • Bradley Beal
  • 2031 first-round pick (unprotected via Phoenix Suns)
  • 2025 second-round pick (via Sacramento Kings)
  • 2028 second-round pick (via Chicago Bulls)

    San Antonio Spurs Receive:

  • Zach LaVine
  • 2029 first-round pick (unprotected via Chicago Bulls)

    Phoenix Suns Receive:

  • Norman Powell
  • Zach Collins
  • P.J. Tucker

    Chicago Bulls Receive:

  • Keldon Johnson
  • Terance Mann
  • Bones Hyland
  • Amir Coffey

The Bulls would finally get to shed LaVine's contract, while adding some exciting young pieces to start their rebuild. Johnson was a premier scorer at 22 points a game for the Spurs in the 2022-23 season, but his production and usage fell off with the arrival of phenom Victor Wembanyama last season. KJ could take the reins once again in Chicago.

Mann and Hyland are two other young-ish players who would have more chance to flourish with a rebuilding Bulls team.

The Suns would get out from under the onerous Beal deal, which still has three years and $161 million to run. He simply did not pay dividends for Phoenix as part of a supposed 'Big 3' with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. In return, the Suns get some nice rotation pieces to surround KD & Book, with Powell and Tucker both having championship pedigree.

The Spurs would receive a supreme scorer in LaVine to take some of the load, and the defensive scheming, off of Wemby. They'd also nab themselves a solid first-round pick in return for losing Johnson and Collins.

And as for the Clippers, they would bring in a player in Beal who can pick up most of the scoring they lost when Paul George bolted for the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency. Of course, the big problem here is that Beal has almost as hard a time staying healthy as Kawhi Leonard. And having two of those guys on the same team could leave the Clippers in a bind for large chunks of the season.
