Warriors Trade Rumors: Kyle Kuzma Goes To Golden State in Proposed Deal

The Golden State Warriors are in need of a star-power injection after losing Klay Thompson this summer, and while they tried for the likes of Paul George (came close) and Laurie Markkanen (did not come close), they came up short.

One star scorer who is out there on the trade block is Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma. He's built up his resume to new levels since arriving in DC three years ago, and is now a legit 20-point-per-game man.

What would the Warriors have to sacrifice to land him? Insider Eric Pincus has a proposed trade that he's pitched in Bleacher Report. It sounds a little steep, but maybe it's what the Dubs need to do if they want to take a big swing at another title while Steph Curry's window is still open. Here's what Pincus suggests could work:

Golden State Warriors Receive:
  • Kyle Kuzma

Washington Wizards Receive:
  • Jonathan Kuminga
  • Moses Moody
  • Kevon Looney
  • Gary Payton II

Why would the Warriors do this? Pincus suggests that if extensions are not in the offing for the youngsters Kuminga and Moody, this might be a way to turn them into an immediate star.

"If the Warriors aren't willing to pay Kuminga and Moody, perhaps they can relocate them to the Washington Wizards for Kuzma. Golden State would need to include others like Kevon Looney and Gary Payton II, and roster space would be an issue for the Wizards taking in that many players, but it's workable with some creativity."

It would stand to reason that some draft capital would also likely need to head to Washington.

Pincus also adds that the Dubs would even be able to stay below the first tax apron in a deal like this. Kuzma has three years to run on his deal, averaging about $21 million per season the rest of the way.

The former NBA champion averaged a career-high 22.2 points and 4.2 assists along with 6.6 boards in 70 games with the Wiz last season.

Kuminga would be the jewel of this trade for Washington, as he broke through with 16 points and 4.8 rebounds last year in his 3rd NBA campaign.
