Free Agent Doug McDermott Finds New NBA Home

One of the top remaining free agents in the NBA, a career 41% shooter from deep, Doug McDermott has finally found a home for the 2024-25 season, signing a one-year deal with Western Conference playoff contender the Sacramento Kings.

McDermott spent last season split between the San Antonio Spurs and the Indiana Pacers. The 5.5 points he averaged was a career low (since his partial rookie season), but he also only received a career-low 14 minutes per game. But he did shoot bang on his average mark of 41% from three.

The 32-year-old will be entering his 11th NBA season, having also spent four seasons with the Pacers (in two different stints), 2½ years each with the Spurs and the Chicago Bulls and one season with each of the New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Kings were able to make room to sign McDermott after the salary dump of Jalen McDaniels earlier this week.

The 6'6" forward was a first-round selection of the Denver Nuggets (11th overall) in the 2014 NBA Draft.
