Golden State Warriors Sign One of Their 2021 Lottery Picks To Rookie Extension

With Monday's deadline for rookie extensions to be signed just hours away, the Golden State Warriors have managed to get one of their young promising 2021 lottery picks under contract, signing guard Moses Moody to a three-year, $39 million deal.

As Charania notes, Moody turned himself into a nice piece of the Warriors rotation in his third season last year, posting improvements across the board in averaging 8.1 points and 3.0 rebounds. He has consistently shot 36% from three-point range in his three NBA seasons.

If his performance in preseason means anything, he's due for another big uptick in value this season, as he's averaged 15.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 39% from long range and 20.1 minutes a night (also up about three minutes from last season).

“He’s playing great,” head coach Steve Kerr said recently. “He’s gotten so much better in so many ways. We’ve always loved his character, his work ethic. This is the most confidence he’s played with.”

Moody was selected with the 14th overall pick in the '21 Draft, but his fellow lottery pick, Jonathan Kuminga, appears to be headed into the new season without an extension as the two sides are far apart. He has been rumored to be wanting an insane amount on his next contract.
