NBA Trade Rumors: 3 Stars Who Will Be Next To Demand Trade

It's an annual tradition in the NBA in recent years. Star players demanding a trade from the team they recently signed a massive contract with. The Kyrie Irvings, Kevin Durants and James Hardens of the world are the primary perpetrators.

So who will be next?

Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report has taken on the task of naming the next wave of stars to ask out of their current teams. We've got it whittled down to the Top 3:

1. Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks

The team traded his All-Star backcourt partner this past summer, Dejounte Murray, and they dealt power forward John Collins last year. Clint Capela has been rumored to be next. With the team in an obvious "retool" (a friendlier, gentler word for "rebuild"), how long can it possibly be until three-time All-Star Trae Young asks out? Especially since he's been rumored to be on the trade block, wouldn't he want to get out in front of it and strike first?

2. Brandon Ingram, New Orleans Pelicans

This one has been simmering all summer, as Ingram was wanting a max extension and the Pelicans weren't willing to give it to him. He was on the trade block the past few months, but nothing came to fruition. Now, with free agency pending at the end of this season and no extension forthcoming, it wouldn't be surprising for Ingram to demand a trade—or for the Pelicans to oblige.

3. Kevin Durant, Phoenix Suns

Don't laugh. Some have insinuated that this could be coming. Durant, of course, has already bailed on several teams in his career when he wasn't happy with his lot in life. With the Suns facing an uncertain situation trying to compete with a roster featuring a top-heavy threesome of KD, Devin Booker and the grossly-overpaid Bradley Beal, it remains to be seen if their new supporting cast will help. But if not, it wouldn't be shocking to hear that he wants out.

Honorable mention: James Harden, LA Clippers

No list of 'players who will demand a trade' would be complete without Harden, so we'll add him here. No one has personified this unsavoury tendency in the NBA in recent years more than The Beard. With Paul George gone, and Kawhi Leonard certain to spend plenty of time out of the lineup, Harden could start to get exasperated with the Clippers situation pretty quickly this season.
