Scotty Pippen Jr. Gets Huge Contract Promotion From Grizzlies

Coming off a tremendous finish to last season, a very strong Summer League and another impressive four-game showing in preseason this month, Scotty Pippen Jr.  has now earned himself a four-year extension with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Pippen Jr. established himself as a solid part of the rotation after he was acquired in January following Ja Morant going down for the season.

In 21 games (16 starts) with Memphis, Pippen Jr. averaged 12.9 points, 4.7 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 25 minutes a night. But it was his 13-game finish to the season in March and April that really caught the eye of Grizzlies management. Over that period, Pippen averaged over 14 points and five assists with over two steals per game.

The son of the Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, the younger version went undrafted out of college two years ago. The LA Lakers signed him but he got into only six games with them in 2022-23, and was then waived by the Purple & Gold before last season. It wasn't until January when the Grizzlies signed him to that two-way contract in almost an act of desperation after learning that Morant's season was over after just nine games following his return from suspension.
