Wizards Lose Oft-Injured Malcolm Brogdon To... Another Injury, For Extended Period

This isn't the first time you've heard news that veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon is going on the injured list, and quite surely, it won't be the last. But this time, a new team is getting the Brogdon experience first-hand.

The Washington Wizards dealt for Brogdon in a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers this past offseason, but he won't be making his DC debut for quite some time, due to a hand injury suffered during practice over the weekend. He'll be out for several weeks, likely at least a month.

He has a Rookie of the Year award and a Top 6th Man award, but it's buyer beware for any team acquiring the soon-to-be 32-year-old Brogdon. He missed 43 games last season with a variety of ailments, but mainly right elbow tendinitis, which comprised 32 of those games missed. He also had hamstring, knee and adductor problems which caused him to miss action.

Over the years, he's also missed games due to injuries involving:

  • Achilles
  • Back
  • Knee
  • Hip
  • Ankle
  • Hamstring
  • Forearm
  • Concussion
  • Neck
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Torn Rectus Femoris
Brogdon has only topped the 56-game played mark three times in his eight-year career, and only once in the past five seasons.

Raw rookie guards Bub Carrington and Kyshawn George will likely be forced into larger roles now than the Wizards had envisioned.
