3 Teams Interested in Lakers Pending Free Agent Jalen Hood-Schifino
It was a rare move when the Los Angeles Lakers declined to pick up the $4 million option on a third year for Jalen Hood-Schifino for next season. Now he becomes an outgoing salary on an expiring rookie deal ($3.9M) that the Lakers can use in a trade to bring in a veteran they feel can help them this season.
Even though he's not in the Lakers' plans moving forward, he will still be able to showcase himself in the G League this year ahead of his impending unrestricted free agency.
There are a number of teams that could want to take a look at the 21-year-old, and with the help of insider Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, we take a look at the top 3 teams interested in Hood-Schifino in a possible trade.
Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks held plenty of trade conversations with the Lakers this past summer, mostly surrounding the possibility of trading Dejounte Murray (who, of course, they wound up sending to the New Orleans Pelicans). But while in those talks, says Fischer, they expressed an interest in taking back Hood-Schifino as part of the return package. They could revisit their interest in him again.
Utah Jazz
Another team that had preliminary trade discussions with the Lakers over the summer, and also mentioned their interest in JHS. LA would be desperate to obtain Walker Kessler from the Jazz in a deal.
Brooklyn Nets
Here's another team that the Lakers have reached out to, in looking for a center. Hood-Schifino could be part of a package in any Nets trade, as Brooklyn does have interest in him, per Fischer.
