Brooklyn Nets "Open for Business", 6 Trade Candidates Named

The Brooklyn Nets haven't been as bad as many expected, but nevertheless, they aren't fooling themselves into thinking that their current team is something to go into the future with. The rebuilding club will be a team that all eyes are on as trade talks around the league start to pick up steam, per Sam Amick in The Athletic

The trade deadline is still nearly three months away, but there is plenty of chatter about Brooklyn being the place to go for contending teams looking for upgrades when that crucial time of roster-building finally arrives. League sources say the rebuilding Nets are expected to be open for business.

We've heard many Nets players' names mentioned here and there on the rumor mill through the offseason and into the new campaign, but let's do a little consolidating and list the six most likely trade candidates.

Dorian Finney-Smith

The 3-and-D wing has been a trade candidate for Brooklyn almost from the moment they acquired him from the Dallas Mavericks in the Kyrie Irving trade in 2022-23. He's got plenty of suitors around the league, and the 31-year-old is almost certain to be dealt.

Cam Thomas

Yes, we've heard plenty about him recently, as he and the Nets failed to come to an extension agreement, and he will be a restricted free agent after the season. And as a player capable of dropping 25 points a night on a regular basis, he will be in heavy demand. We recently ran through three potential landing spots that make sense

Dennis Schröder

The much-traveled point guard has performed fairly well in his role wherever he's gone. He's not a game-changer on the first unit, and though he has been a full-time starter since arriving in Brooklyn, he can be a great add for contending teams looking for some scoring and playmaking off the bench.

Bojan Bogdanovic

He has yet to play this season due to injury, but he's close to a return, perhaps in a week or two. The veteran, if he's healthy after foot surgery, can be a tremendous secondary scorer for a contender, adding up to 17-20 points a night.

Nic Claxton

The Nets really like the big man, as shown by the four-year, $100 million extension he signed in the summer. But the team is in such a place, as Amick notes, that no one should be off the table. It would take a big offer to land him, and he would be in great demand if made available.

Cam Johnson

Another nice player that will have teams bidding on him, the small forward can score (19.3 points per game this season) and shoot it from deep (42.3%).
