Immanuel Quickley is Another Brutal Injury Blow For Toronto Raptors

If the Toronto Raptors had hoped to get a developmental year out of their new young nucleus of Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley working together this season... Think again.

With Barnes already out indefinitely with a fractured orbital bone, they've now learned that guard Immanuel Quickley, who has played only three games this season, is now out indefinitely once again with a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow.

Now, granted, Quickley is not a major league pitcher, so the dreaded UCL tear, which usually leads to Tommy John surgery in that sport, is not currently part of the equation here.

In fact, the team says he'll be re-evaluated in one week.

Quickley came to the Raptors in the OG Anunoby trade with the New York Knicks at New Year's last season. In 38 games, he established himself as the point guard of the future in Toronto, averaging 18.6 points, 6.8 assists and 4.8 boards while shooting 39.5% from long distance.

He signed a huge extension in the offseason, 5 years at $162.5 million. He missed the first eight games this season with a pelvic injury.

In his three games, he was still rounding into shape, averaging 15.3 points, 4.0 assists and 37.5% from three. Davion Mitchell will once again take over the starting duties at the point.

The Raptors have the worst record in the NBA at 2-9.
