Insider: Sixers "Willing and Able" To Make Huge Trade

The Philadelphia 76ers are in disarray, to say the least. They're without two superstars, with Joel Embiid yet to make his season debut, and Tyrese Maxey now out for a couple of weeks. And their newest star, Paul George, has only played two games thus far. Philly is dead last in the Eastern Conference at 1-6.

And now, NBA Insider Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report says the team is gung ho to make a big splashy trade to bring in an impact player.

The Sixers do have a lot of levers to pull... I have been told repeatedly, the Sixers are willing and able to put first round draft capital on the table for players they will have to go into the second (tax) apron to sign next summer.

I would not be saying the Sixers season is over, I would not be too concerned about a 1-6 record in early November.

Fischer notes that April is really the only time of the season that truly matters to GM Daryl Morey and everyone else in the Sixers organization, and that he expects a big move(s) to come closer to the trade deadline.

In the meantime, "it's imperative" for the team to "make sure they have their core group healthy for the postseason," says Fischer, so they'll be super cautious with each of Embiid, Maxey and George.

Some of the names that have been floated as viable potential trade targets for the Sixers include Bennedict Mathurin of the Indiana Pacers and Jabari Smith Jr. of the Houston Rockets.
