NBA Trade Rumors: 3 Nets Expected to be Traded by Deadline

The Brooklyn Nets are going to be a lottery team this season. Just ask them. After a draft day trade with Houston back in June in which they reacquired their 2025 and 2026 first-round picks, the Nets made it clear that their rebuild was underway. Not long after that, they traded their star scorer Mikal Bridges to the crosstown New York Knicks.

Now, according to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Nets will be continuing their tear-down and rebuild this season by dealing off more veteran assets. Rival teams, writes Stein, expect the following three players to be on the move:

Dennis Schröder

The veteran point guard will become a free agent after the current season, and is playing on a reasonable contract at $13 million.

The 31-year-old is a very capable point guard, off to a blistering start this year in Brooklyn, averaging 20.1 points and 6.6 assists while shooting a red-hot 46.3% from long range. He's started all 10 of the Nets games.

Dorian Finney-Smith

Also 31, Finney-Smith can decline his $15 million option for next season and also become a free agent next July. He's highly regarded around the league as a solid defender on the perimeter, and will have plenty of suitors. It should be noted that his 3-and-D label has suffered a bit the past few years, as he hasn't even cracked the 35% mark on three-point attempts since 2021-22.

Bojan Bogdanovic

A potential 20-point scorer will also have plenty of interest on the trade market, if he can return from injury looking like his old self. Bogdanovic is 35 and becomes a free agent after the season, and at $19 million on an expiring contract, is affordable. After averaging over 20 points per game in his season and a half with the Detroit Pistons, he was relegated to the bench in 29 games with the New York Knicks last season after a deadline deal. He was then dealt to Brooklyn in the Bridges trade.

He hasn't played yet for Brooklyn, however, as he's still rehabbing from foot surgery that ended his 2023-24 season this past April.
