NBA Trade Rumors: Damian Lillard Creates 'Big 3' With Lakers in Blockbuster Proposal
The Milwaukee Bucks are perilously close to needing a major shakeup if they don't turn things around. The Los Angeles Lakers are itching to make a major addition to LeBron James and Anthony Davis to form a 'Big 3' to try to get them into championship contention.
Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report has proposed a whopper of a 3-team deal that would solve both issues, by sending Damian Lillard to the Lakers to team up with LeBron and AD.
Los Angeles Lakers Receive:
- PG Damian Lillard
Milwaukee Bucks Receive:
- G Austin Reaves
- F Rui Hachimura
- PG D'Angelo Russell
- 2029 first-round pick (unprotected via Lakers)
Detroit Pistons Receive:
- F/C Christian Wood
- 2025 second-round pick (via Lakers)
With this potential blockbuster move, the Lakers arrive in Dame Time, and give LeBron & AD the serious scoring threat they need to make life much easier for them. It would at least give the impression of a team ready to make a serious run. Swartz reminds us of a quote from LeBron from a few years back, when he was asked if Dame was underappreciated in Portland: “Give me Damian Lillard. I’ll show you how appreciated he’ll be.”
The Bucks could regroup around Giannis Antetokounmpo with this deal, giving him plenty more depth that the team needs to try to make another run at a title with a refreshed look. It's basically a 3-for-1 deal that Milwaukee's rotation. With D'Lo taking over prime point duties, plus Reaves offering an off ball scoring threat and Hachimura as another rotation piece to add to the other key pieces still around from their championship, like Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis, they could be rejuvenated.
As for the Pistons, they get compensated with a second-round pick while taking on the contract of an old friend, Christian Wood.
